Trash Monopoly Coming to Upper Tyrone?

You may have read about Dunbar’s effort to require all Dunbar residents to have monopolized trash service.  (Read about it here.)  This is something that the Upper Tyrone Township Supervisors have been considering since 2010.  (Read it here.)

Will we be forced to buy broccoli next?  Or maybe Brussels sprouts?

I prefer the free market to Crony Capitalism.  Do we want Upper Tyrone Township to be like Washington DC?

The Code Is Still in Their Back Pocket

The supervisors have now publicly said they won’t enforce much of the code.  As mentioned in the Courier article, Roger Adams said:

“What we’re concerned with is grass growing out of control, junk cars, rubbish and refuse.”

So if they are truly only concerned with tall grass, junk cars, rubbish and refuse, then that is the only items that should be in the code.  They can amend the code as they see fit.  They can adopt only very specific portions.  But they choose to adopt the entire code, unmodified.

So then the whole code will still be law.  It is still enforceable at any time on anyone in the township.  The code is still in their back pocket.  They just promise not to use it… at least, not too much.

We are told to just trust them.  They have our best interests at heart.  They will love us and protect us….

Until they change their mind.  Which could be tomorrow.  Or next month.  Or next year.  I guess we are all ignorant children in need of the Nanny State.

We have a reprieve from this Code only at the mercy of the Supervisors.

Protect your private property rights from continued erosion.

Take Action!

Politicians Are Like Bored Children

Politicians are like bored children who soon get into mischief when they have nothing to do.

First the Nuisance Ordinance (tabled indefinitely, thanks to residents like you who took action).

Now the International Property Maintenance Code.

Next will be Zoning.

We must watch the Supervisors–watch them very closely.

And attend the meetings.

We must help them to mind their own business and stay out of ours.
