So, Fayette County Commissioner Al Ambrosini spoke towards the end of the meeting, giving our supervisors some advice on the IPMC. He spoke quietly… you’ll probably need to turn your speakers up to hear him.
Everything is being made illegal, even using your own property as you see fit, even when it doesn’t hurt anyone. Check out the guy who almost ends up in jail over a Property Maintenance Code around 3:35. Continue reading
This evening, the supervisors had the opportunity to meet about 100 of their constituents. The supervisors discovered that the majority of these residents want simply to be left alone.
A few residents think that it is the government’s job to guarantee us happiness and keep us safe. They seem willing to give away their freedom for this empty promise. They seem to be very willing to take away the freedom of others, too.
The supervisors chose to abolish the proposed ordinance that would have adopted the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code.
If we in Upper Tyrone want an ordinance, the ordinance needs to be based on the fundamental rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and the right to own private property. The ordinance must be clear that the only activities that are prohibited are those that harm another person’s life, take away another person’s liberty, or damage their private property.
The ordinance cannot guarantee that a person will be happy, that a person will be free from having to see “nuisances”. We do not have the right to be free from discomfort.
Here is the video footage of the entire meeting.
The supervisors meetings will be video recorded and placed on YouTube. Commentary will be provided where appropriate. Action alerts will be placed on the front page of this website should anything cause me concern.
Check here after the 2nd Tuesday of each month for the video of meeting.
