McClure Rd and 119 Intersection

Please support the Township Supervisors’ efforts to convince PennDot to open the McClure Rd / 119 intersection back up to four-way traffic and get rid of the triangular divider.  Mr Edwards will be going to a PennDot outreach meeting to attempt to work with them.  Call 724-887-4359 to see how you can support the Supervisors’ effort.  This has gained importance since, as was discussed in the meeting on April 10, the bridge that 119 crosses over Jacob’s creek and the bridge that 819 crosses over 119 will both be under construction through 2013.

The Supervisors Met Over 100 Upper Tyrone Residents

This evening, the supervisors had the opportunity to meet about 100 of their constituents.  The supervisors discovered that the majority of these residents want simply to be left alone.

A few residents think that it is the government’s job to guarantee us happiness and keep us safe.  They seem willing to give away their freedom for this empty promise.  They seem to be very willing to take away the freedom of others, too.

The supervisors chose to abolish the proposed ordinance that would have adopted the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code.

If we in Upper Tyrone want an ordinance, the ordinance needs to be based on the fundamental rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and the right to own private property.  The ordinance must be clear that the only activities that are prohibited are those that harm another person’s life, take away another person’s liberty, or damage their private property.

The ordinance cannot guarantee that a person will be happy, that a person will be free from having to see “nuisances”.  We do not have the right to be free from discomfort.

Here is the video footage of the entire meeting.

Politicians Are Like Bored Children

Politicians are like bored children who soon get into mischief when they have nothing to do.

First the Nuisance Ordinance (tabled indefinitely, thanks to residents like you who took action).

Now the International Property Maintenance Code.

Next will be Zoning.

We must watch the Supervisors–watch them very closely.

And attend the meetings.

We must help them to mind their own business and stay out of ours.
